Trail: Carson Pass to Winnemucca Lake – Highway 88
Distance: 4.2 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Trailhead elevation: 8600 feet
Highest point: 9050

We drove to Hwy. 88 via Pleasant Valley Road and the Mormon Emigrant Trail. The weather had been over 100 degrees for several days at home. We hiked mid-morning to around 1:00 pm. The weather was sunny and warm, probably around 80 degrees. There were still plenty of wildflowers and some snow at both Frog and Winnemucca lakes.

Here is Frog Lake. We hiked around the lake and enjoyed the snow and nice views.

July and there is still snow around Frog Lake. We encountered a family from Texas and their kids had never played in snow - they really enjoyed the heck out of this patch!

The view behind Bud is Red Lake. Another scenic adventure along the trail.

I just love the triumph of life in adverse situations. If this little flower can do it, so can I.

Lake Winnemucca at last. Very serene and beautiful.
