Trail: El Dorado Trail - Placerville, CA
Distance: 6.2 miles round trip

The El Dorado Trail is our local biking/walking trail that was developed by the Rails to Trails Conservancy. Check out the website and find a trail near you. The website for the El Dorado Trail still shows it at 2 miles long, but has since been expanded and is now about 3.1 miles. You can actually go beyond the pavement to Camino, but a 6 mile round trip is just fine with me.

There are a few places you can park and catch the trail making it easy to walk different parts of the trail without walking the whole way. We try to walk here as often as possible, than do a couple of errands on the way home.

It is very popular with walkers, walkers with strollers, bikers and quite a few dogs. Horses are also allowed. We have never seen any, but we have seen the "evidence". Dog poo bags are provided and trash cans are found along the trail. Our dogs are getting older and only can handle about a mile, so they don't get to go very often :-(

Heading east.

The trail crosses over Highway 50. This shot is looking east.

Now heading west with the sun at our backs.

An old railroad tunnel.

Oh the memories that trail brings back! I used to walk with my parents and the kids. The boys were tiny in the double stroller and even though Sadie was pretty small too (3 or 4) she would trail along beside us talking nonstop. She never got tired and it seemed like she never even had a clue that she had just walked miles. She's a funny girl!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane (or trail as it were).
Love yah!

I was thinking about you when we were walking the trail, knowing it probably was a part of your life in P'ville. It is so nice to see so many people enjoying it. We saw a little girl in flip-flops about 3 years old yesterday walking the trail. There was an opening in her mom's triple stroller, so she had a back-up plan. She too was talking, talking, talking. Love, Ma and Pa W
